"The Cloud" |
Stanza 3 Analysis

The cloud enjoys a game with the sun. When the morning star begins to fade, the sun with its shining eyes and flaming feathers jumps unto the cloud's back in much the same way an eagle perches on a mountain top. At the end of the day the sunset rests its wings like a dove sitting in her nest.
This biblical imagery of a dove symbolizes the supernatural power of the cloud and its creative forces.
